P4 pharmacy students Austin Lucht and Kimmy Terry recently met with Nebraska congressmen and staff to discuss medication therapy management policy. Lucht and Terry traveled to Washington, D.C., as part of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores RxImpact program. Students learned about advocacy and public policy and met with U.S. Reps. Adrian Smith (3rd Congressional District) and Lee Terry (2nd District), and with 1st District Rep. Jeff Fortenberry's staff. The trip was an aspect of the students' public policy rotation, under Ally Dering-Anderson, Pharm.D., assistant professor of pharmacy practice, who served as team leader.

The Division of General Internal Medicine will host a farewell tea for Phyllis Nsiah-Kumi, M.D., from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on March 28, with a presentation at 4:30 p.m. The tea will be in Private Dining Room C - University Towers. Dr. Nsiah-Kumi will be joining the faculty at Case-Western Reserve University and will become the director of Women's Veterans Health Services at the Lewis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Nsiah-Kumi's last day at UNMC is March 29.
Paula Turpen, Ph.D., has been elected to the Executive Board of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF). The ABRF is an international society dedicated to advancing core and research biotechnology laboratories through research, communication and education. Dr. Turpen, the director of research resources at the UNMC Office of Research, will serve a four-year term.
The Journal of Physician Assistant Education, the official journal of the Physician Assistant Education Association, recently appointed Tami Ritsema, assistant professor of physician assistant education in the School of Allied Health Professions, to its editorial board. Michael Huckabee, Ph.D., director of physician assistant education, has been selected as editor for the Abstracts and Brief Reports feature of the journal. JPAE advances PA education by publishing scholarly manuscripts germane to PA educators and by providing a forum for the sharing of ideas and innovations that will enhance the education of PA students. The peer-reviewed journal is indexed in the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE database and published on a quarterly basis.
