Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.

This week, we learn more about Greg Ruhe, a design drafter in Facilities Management and Planning (FMP).

  • Name: Greg Ruhe
  • Hometown: Born in Ottumwa, Iowa, lived in Omaha for 50 years.
  • No. of years at UNMC: 5-1/2 years

Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.

I work in the FMP department as a design drafter. I work with a computer-aided drafting program to draw up floor plans for moves and office remodels and whatever other projects I am given that need to be documented. I also assist Dan Grice, the department's facilities data base manager, in the use of the facility management program.

Commitment to excellence is one of UNMC's brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group demonstrate commitment to excellence at UNMC.

The ongoing moves to make way for the new Comprehensive Cancer Center has required a tremendous amount of dedication, teamwork, timing and sometimes diplomacy on the part of the FMP department. The department has worked well together to accomplish these goals.

What is your favorite spring activity?
