Tell us a bit about what you do here at UNMC.
I work with the Center for Preparedness Education, part of the Center for Biosecurity, Biopreparedness and Emerging Infectious Diseases, College of Public Health. My position enables me to be a part of the center's activities in preparedness training across multiple disciplines for various organizations across the state of Nebraska. I provide administrative support for the faculty/staff members of the center. I enjoy the vast array of projects that we work on in assisting with preparedness for individuals and their organizations.
Being a trusted resource is one of UNMC's brand values. Tell us of a time you witnessed a person or group act as a trusted resource at UNMC.
It is difficult to specify "one" incident. Through our work here in the center we often have requests for information, requests for special training, etc. As a whole, and one of the reasons I am proud to be a part of UNMC, the collaborative efforts of staff and departments working together is a great value for the campus. People demonstrate collaboration when working on grants/project submissions, working with organizations across the state, networking and incorporating the knowledge-base of those around us. This all helps support UNMC and contributes to the great resource for all those who come in contact with UNMC as a whole.
What is your favorite winter activity?
Second to watching the Nebraska Cornhusker football -- Go Big Red! -- I would have to say I spend as much time as I can, quilting. Though I am just a novice, quilting is relaxing and very rewarding in the beauty of the projects when they're completed.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I love to read.
- In August, I enjoy our annual trip to the Sandhills -- "tanking" down the Cedar River and attending their annual "Turtle Racing" activities in Ericson, Neb.
- I am due to be a first time grandmother any day now.
