The Durham Research Center , which opened in 2003, is a 10-level, 289,000 gross-square-foot building which has enabled UNMC to enhance its research in a number of areas, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurosciences, transplantation biology, genetics and eye research.
Other research areas at UNMC include toxicology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, immunology, virology and bioterrorism.
More than 500 graduate students are enrolled at UNMC, approximately half in Ph.D. programs. Most full-time Ph.D. students receive some type of financial support, i.e., tuition remission and/or assistantship or fellowship.
