Know how to obtain information about full-text availability
PubMed contains "Filter your result" links and two types of buttons that will be helpful when you are trying to obtain full-text:
When you access PubMed by going through a link on the Library's web site, the abstract view of each record will usually include "GetIt!@UNMC" button and may also include a publisher's button.
A. "GetIt!@UNMC" button.

When you click on one of these buttons a pop-up window will open.

This window will:
B. Publisher's buttons usually just provide you an opportunity to pay for an article or pay for a personal subscription (especially when you're off campus). However, publishers occasionally provide free access to an electronic article. The PubMed records corresponding to these freely available online articles usually have
a "Free full text" button of some type.
C. The "Filter Your Results" "Free full Text" link (red arrow in figure below) is very helpful in finding articles made available without charge by publishers. Not all free articles
will have publisher's buttons that indicate free access. However, all, or nearly all, will be listed when you click on the "Free full text" link.

After clicking on the "Free full text" link, you may find that you want to return to the complete result list. If so, just click on the "All" link (green arrow).
Clicking on the "UNMC Library Holdings" link (blue arrow) will take you to a list of most, but not all, of the items available through the McGoogan Library's subscriptions and licenses. Unfortunately, there is no way for our librarians to perfect the data that produces the "UNMC Library Holdings" list. You will be able to obtain access to some articles not listed in the "UNMC Library Holdings" list, by clicking on the "All" tab and clicking on "GetIt!@UNMC buttons" to check for availability.
