Search 2 Results and Assignment

Are you are satisfied with your search results and the limits you have applied?
Are the majority of the results that you've retrieved relevant?
Do you believe that the PubMed records for almost all relevant, MEDLINE-indexed articles have been retrieved by your search?
(Please note: Pubmed contains partially indexed, PREMEDLINE records. These records do not include subject headings and, thus, will not be retrieved by your MeSH search statement. Therefore, you may find relevant, "in process" OR "as supplied by publisher" records that will are not retrieved by your search. Do not attempt to alter your search strategy to retrieve these records. These PREMEDLINE records can only be retrieved by keyword searches.)

Feel free to ask instructors for help if you have any questions. Once you're satisfied with your search strategy and results, complete the search 2 assignment by following the instructions below:

  1. Click on the "Advanced" link .
  2. If the entire search history for your second search is not already visible, click the "More History " button to make it visible.
  3. Drag your cursor over the search history. Start at the words "search history" and include all rows that contain search statements that are part of your second search. After you have highlighted the second search history. Copy the history by holding down the Ctl button and the C button simultaneously.
  4. Open a word document. Type your name at the top of the document.
  5. Paste the search history into the Word document by holding down the Ctl button and the V button simultaneously. Save the Word document as "search 2 ".
  6. Attach the "search 2" document to your draft e-mail and save as draft as follows:
    1. Attach the "search 2 " document to the draft e-mail "MEDLINE lab assignment" message that already includes the "search 1" document..
    2. Click the "Save as draft" button. Now, even if your computer shuts down during the remaining lab time, you will still have a copy of the e-mail and the attached "search 1" and "search 2" histories.
    3. Go to the "Drafts" location in your e-mail and open the saved draft of "MEDLINE lab assignment". If you can't find the saved draft with attached documents, ask for help NOW.
  7. Elect a group member to turn in your group's work on search 3. If you have not been elected for this responsibility, send your e-mail to Cindy Schmidt (cmschmidt@unmc.edu) now. Check the sent message and attachments to make sure the attachments are readable. If not, ask for help.
  8. Proceed to the next part of this tutorial.
