TARGET AUDIENCE: Advanced practice nurses, registered nurses, and other interested healthcare professionals, especially those caring for cancer patients.

 
     
 

PROGRAM GOAL: To educate oncology nurses about assisting cancer patients in making decisions about their treatment options.

 
     
 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the completion of this program, the participant should be better able to:

  • Cite examples of preference-sensitive decisions patients with cancer may face.
  • Explain the benefits of a shared decision-making approach.
  • Describe interventions that have been used to promote patient involvement in clinical decision making.
