Prerequisite and Corequisite Courses for BSN program

The prerequisites and corequisite courses can be taken at any accredited community college, college, or university. Many on-line and independent study courses from an accredited college or university will also be accepted for transfer. If you have another degree or college credit from an accredited college, many of your courses will transfer.

All corequisite courses except the free electives must be completed by the start of the second semester of the nursing program. It takes approximately 3-4 semesters to complete both the prerequisite and corequisite courses but you may go slower.

*  Human Physiology 4   Political Science and Social Organization 3
 
*  Chemistry 4   Required elective (Immunology, Genetics, or one additional course from Humanities, Culture, Family or Political Science.) 3
 
*  Statistics 3      
 
**  Evidence of Math competency    ***  Free electives  7-9

Key:

*      Course work students should complete first.

**    Students must show evidence of math competency; Math ACT of 22 or above or meet the entrance math requirement of eligibility for College Algebra.

***  The 7-9 credits of free electives may be any course transferable to the University of Nebraska.  Additional courses in a previously studied area or a new area, e.g., drug awareness, computer classes, mathematics, health education or social problems may be selected.
