My nursing career began in acute care in a public hospital where I learned that there were many social and environmental factors that affected people's health. This led me to public and community health nursing (P/CHN) as a staff nurse for the Omaha Visiting Nurses Association, and eventually to a P/CHN advanced practice degree. During my years in nursing education, I have always practiced or held a practice agreement. Currently most of my practice relates to quality improvement and evaluation of practice and education programs or interventions. Nursing is a wonderful career and I love blending practice and research scholarship my career even though it is challenging to do. I have also participated in several education innovation grants and in education scholarship.
