Learn Lotus Notes mail basics on Dec. 2  NEW!
Learn the basics features of using Lotus Notes Mail along with tips and suggestions to make your e-mail experience more productive. The session will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon in the 8011 Wittson Hall. Register online (requires your UNMC Personnel ID) or e-mail csttrain@unmc.edu.

Learn Excel 2007 Basics on Dec. 3  NEW!
Learn how to create and format worksheets, add simple formulas, autofill shortcuts, absolute vs relative cells, and how to work with the many new or enhanced features of Excel 2007 such as conditional formatting, table styles, themes, charts and more. This session will be Dec. 3 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. in 8011 Wittson Hall. Register online (requires your UNMC Personnel ID) or e-mail csttrain@unmc.edu.

Faculty and researchers - learn to use Refworks on Dec. 8  NEW!
The IT for Researchers group (RUG) offers a session on Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Durham Research Center, Room 1004. Cindy Schmidt from the McGoogan Library of Medicine will demonstrate how to create a searchable database from your MEDLINE, CINAHL and PsycINFO search results. Use that database to insert citations and create bibliographies in your papers in a matter of minutes. You'll learn how to reformat your paper for submission to a new journal in seconds. Citations and bibliographies made easier: RefWorks training schedule 
Create a searchable database from your MEDLINE, CINAHL and PsycINFO search results. Use that database to insert citations and create bibliographies in your papers in just minutes. Reformat your paper for submission to a new journal in seconds. Learn how to do all this and more by attending our hands-on, RefWorks Basic Training Class. Those who attend will create their own RefWorks accounts (for free) through the McGoogan Library's RefWorks site license. Identical, RefWorks Basic Training Classes will be offered on:
  • Friday, Sept. 25 at 9:30 a.m.;
  • Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m.;
  • Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 9 a.m.; and
  • Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.
The class is open to all UNMC faculty, staff and students. Pre-registration is required. Please e-mail Cindy Schmidt at cmschmidt@unmc.edu to pre-register for a class or if you would like to arrange one-on-one instruction or additional classroom training sessions.
