Nebraska Research and Innovation Conference set for Sept. 29 
The Nebraska Research and Innovation Conference will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Qwest Center Omaha. The conference allows business leaders, policy makers and researchers to hear distinguished speakers, learn about the latest technologies, exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations. The conference begins with morning plenary sessions that feature distinguished speakers and throughout the afternoon, researchers will present exciting new developments in science and business in a mini-track format. A student research poster presentation and a reception will conclude the day. Featured speakers will include:
  • Dr. Elaine Mardis, associate professor of genetics and molecular microbiology and co-director of The Genome Center at Washington University and Washington University School of Medicine;
  • Dr. Bradley Ozenberger, program director for The Cancer Genome Atlas and for Technology Development at the National Human Genome Research Institute and the National Institutes of Health;
  • Dr. Gail Naughton, chief executive officer and chair of the board, Histogen, Inc., San Diego, Calif.; and
  • Dr. Roger L. Geiger, distinguished professor of education and senior scientist in the center for the study of higher education at Penn State University.
There is no cost to attend. The deadline to register to attend the conference and to register a display or poster is Wednesday, Sept. 22. A block of rooms is available at the Omaha Hilton Hotel adjacent to the Qwest Center. The deadline for making room reservations and receiving the special conference room rate has been extended to Friday, Sept. 25.
