Light therapy available for students with Seasonal Affective Disorder
Does your mood turn dark when the days do? Do you find yourself turning excessively to starchy/sugary foods and want to sleep too much? If you reflect on a pattern of at least a couple of very down periods that predominate during winter seasons, you could have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SADS). One of the potential alleviators is bright light therapy via a therapeutic light box, as well as a variety of other treatments and strategies. To explore this further and see what a light box is like, contact Ronda Stevens in the UNMC Counseling and Student Development Center at 559-5553 or rstevens@unmc.edu.
