As of Thursday, Jan. 20 40th Street will be closed at Dewey Avenue to allow MUD to install a new water service across 40th Street. The work will affect all traffic on 40th Street for four to five days. Dewey Avenue will remain open during this work but 40th Street will be restricted south of Farnam Street to local traffic only. Work will continue west on Dewey Avenue for two to three weeks with the sidewalk on the north side of the street closed to all pedestrian traffic. There will be a water service shut down for a four-hour period that will affect the following buildings:

  • Center for Nursing Science;
  • College of Pharmacy;
  • Administration Building;
  • East Utility Plant; and
  • University Eye Associates.
The shut-down will be a one time shut-down from 6 to 10 p.m. Notice to all affected buildings will be given 24 hours prior to the shut down. This work will be a one time shut down sometime during the weeks between Feb. 1 and Feb. 15. If any department has a scheduled event during that two-week period, contact Don Dickmeyer at 402-981-7564 or ddickmey@unmc.edu so the shut-down can be scheduled accordingly.
