Marrow and blood cell donor drive May 12
On May 12, the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) and UNMC are sponsoring a marrow and blood cell donor drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Private Dining Room A as part of the national Thanks Mom! Marrow Donor Recruitment Campaign. Each year, more than 35,000 children and adults in the United States are diagnosed with life-threatening blood diseases such as leukemia. For many of these patients, a marrow or blood cell transplant is the only chance for a cure. The NMDP manages the world's largest and most diverse volunteer donor registry and connects volunteer donors on the NMDP Registry with patients who need transplants. More information on the NMDP. For more information on the donor recruitment drive, contact Sheree Gilmore , UNMC Pediatric Oncology/Hematology, at 559-8864.
