REMINDER: Smithsonian lecture Nov. 14 
Dr. Dik Daso, curator of modern military at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, will speak on campus at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in the Durham Research Center, room 1005. The Smithsonian lecture is one of several offered to UNMC and Nebraska Medical Center employees through a partnership with the Durham Western Heritage Museum. Dr. Daso also acted as co-curator for The Price of Freedom: Americans at War, a permanent exhibition at the National Museum of American History that opened in November 2004. Dr. Daso is a retired Air Force fighter pilot and has served as an RF-4C "Phantom" and T-38 "Talon" instructor pilot, F-15 "Eagle" pilot, accumulating more than 2,750 total flying hours. He taught history at the U.S. Air Force Academy and was chief of Air Force doctrine at Headquarters Air Force at the Pentagon for two years. An evening lecture and reception will also be held at the Durham Western Heritage Museum in conjunction with the current traveling exhibition, titled "From the Home Front and the Front Lines."
