Durham partnership event March 13
Gary Kastrick, a life-long resident of south Omaha, will share the stories and tales that made this area a key part of Omaha's development with a lecture titled "The Magic City and the Stockyards" on Tuesday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Durham Western Heritage Museum's Swanson Gallery. From its rough and tumble beginnings to present day, south Omaha has been a key aspect of Omaha's identity. Gary is a graduate of South High School, where he currently is a history teacher as well as the director of the Omaha Project, a museum at the school created and designed by students in his classes. Please contact Ashley at 444-5071 or alothrop@dwhm.org to make reservations. Thanks to a partnership with the museum, employees and students of UNMC, UNMC Physicians and The Nebraska Medical Center can attend the lecture free with valid identification. Additionally, Kastrick will be making a special appearance on the UNMC campus for a noon lecture. UNMC employees are encouraged to bring their lunches. The lecture will take place in the College of Nursing, Rooms 1011 and 1012. Please contact Jill Carson if you will be attending at jlcarson@unmc.edu.
