'An Evening with the Smithsonian' April 24 
Join the Durham Western Heritage Museum as we welcome a true American original, Thomas Jefferson. In celebration of the "Signers" exhibition, Patrick Lee will share his first-person account of the author of the Declaration of Independence on Tuesday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. Lee's program, "Seven Reasons Why Revolutions Succeed," highlights how the United States gained its freedom The lecture will take place in the museum's Swanson Gallery. A cocktail reception and exhibit viewing will be held at 5 p.m. with the lecture following at 6:30 p.m. Please contact Ashley at 444-5071 or alothrop@dwhm.org to make reservations. That same day, Lee will present "Medical Theory and Practice in the 18th & 19th Centuries, Presented by Thomas Jefferson" at UNMC in the Durham Research Center at noon. Lee will demonstrate the tremendous impact Jefferson and his multi-faceted intellect had on early America. Please contact Jill Carson at jlcarson@unmc.edu if you will be attending. As part of a partnership with the medical center and the museum, employees and students from UNMC, UNMC Physicians and The Nebraska Medical Center receive free admission to the museum year round with valid identification.
