Komen Foundation's 'Pink Martini' April 20
The Susan G. Komen Foundation will present the "Pink Martini" on Friday, April 20 in the Regency Fashion Court center mall. The event, which runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., will feature pink drinks, beer, wine, appetizers, a silent auction and music by the band Oxygen. Admission cost is $25. The Susan G. Komen Foundation is an internationally-acknowledged foundation established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. The foundation's mission is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. The "Pink Martini" is just one event to increase awareness and raise funds. Of the funds raised throughout the year by the foundation, at least 75 perecent will be used locally for education, early detection and to benefit the underserved women of Nebraska. Twenty-five percent of the funds will be used to fund the Komen Foundation Award and Research Grant Program. For more information about the event and/or the Komen Foundation, go to www.komennebraska.org.
