Volunteers needed to help with children's fishing event
SANDS (Sportsmen Assisting Nebraska's Disabled Sportsmen and Women) will be sponsoring its second annual Kids Day for special education students at Millard Public Schools. The events allows 200 to 300 school-aged students to go fishing at Zorinsky Lake. Volunteers are needed to help with the May 7 and 8 event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. SANDS pairs disabled and able-bodied sportsmen and women in such outdoor activities as hunting and fishing. The service is offered through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and hosted, in part, by the UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute. To volunteer for the event, contact SANDS co-founder Dave Burgess of MMI at 559-3743 by May 1.
