Sept. 1 hardcore music concert to benefit Virginia Tech
The River City Hardcore Music Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Sokol Underground on 13th and Martha streets. The concert will feature 20 bands with show proceeds going to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund -- which aids in the healing process following April's shootings at Virginia Tech University. The fund will be used to cover expenses including but not limited to:
  • Grief counseling;
  • Memorials;
  • Communication expenses;
  • Comfort expenses; and
  • Incidental needs.
Tickets for the concerts are on sale at all Homers Records locations in Omaha and Lincoln and on the Web at www.etix.com. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the show. The show starts at noon. In addition, a silent auction also will be held at the show with proceeds going to the Hokie Spirit Fund. Some of the bands performing include A.Symbiont of Omaha, Stigmata of Council Bluffs, The Lifeless Design of Norfolk, Killpact of Des Moines, Iowa, and Denver's Killing Kings.
