Functional genomics conference in Lincoln June 14 
A forum on functional genomics testing, titled "How DNA testing will improve the way we care for companion animals and livestock," will be held Thursday, June 14 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln. Functional genomics testing will have a profound impact on all facets of the livestock industry and companion animal marketplace. Bio Nebraska is hosting a meeting with a panel of speakers to address:
  • Use of modern DNA tools to change livestock production and improve pet care;
  • Ability of DNA testing to improve procurement, market logistics and ultimately meat quality;
  • Creation of successful alliances between industry and academia to drive product development in biotechnology;
  • Biotechnology enhancement of the pet food and companion animal health industry;
  • Development of agribusiness tools necessary to prosper in new biotech markets; and
  • Impact of biotechnology products on animal health.
