Lunch on learn on affirmative action ban Feb. 21 
A lunch and learn session regarding a legislative initiative aimed at banning affirmative action has been scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 21 at noon in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater. Lunch will be provided for the first 50 employees to attend. The session will include a panel discussion about the initiative and its potential devastating impact on UNMC, including its efforts to create a diverse workforce and student body as well as programs aimed at recruiting and retaining faculty and students from diverse backgrounds. Bob Bartee, vice chancellor for external affairs, will moderate the discussion and the panel will be composed of:
  • Rubens Pamies, M.D., vice chancellor for academic affairs;
  • Myrna Newland, M.D., director of UNMC's equity office;
  • Gordon Todd, Ph.D., president of the UNMC Faculty Sentate; and
  • Curtis McKnight, president of the UNMC Student Senate.
All employees are encouraged to attend the forum and there will be an opportunity to ask questions during the session.
