March 25 Durham museum presentation focuses on Nebraska's songs and stories
Dr. Dan Holtz of the Nebraska Humanities Council will present "Nebraska through Song and Story" on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the Durham Western Heritage Museum. Nebraska not only has a rich tradition in literature but also a rich, less-publicized tradition in music. Dr. Holtz interweaves songs, accompanying himself on guitar, with excerpts from works by Cather, Neihardt, Sandoz and Aldrich. In a narrative from 1850 to 1904, he tells the stories of people who came to and through early Nebraska. Dr. Holtz is a professor of English at Peru State College. Thanks to partnership with the museum, UNMC employees and students can attend this presentation free with valid identification. Due to limited seating, the museum requests that you contact Andrea Boschult at 444-5071 or aboschult@dwhm.org to reserve your space in the Stanley & Dorothy Truhlsen Lecture Hall. Check-in begins at 6 p.m. and seating begins at 6:15.
