Annual stroke screening set for May 2
Stroke is the third leading cause of death in this country and a leading cause of disability. Risk of stroke doubles after the age of 55, but stroke can happen at any age. The Nebraska Medical Center is hosting a stroke screening on Friday, May 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Durham Outpatient Center, West Atrium. Prevention is key and the event will offer a personal risk assessment, for anyone over the age of 18. Held annually, during Stroke Awareness Month, this screening will provide an opportunity for individuals to learn about their personal risk factors for stroke, warning signs and preventive strategies. Registration is not required.
