Pfizer official to present special UNeMed seminar on Dec. 18 
UNeMed will sponsor a special seminar on Thursday, Dec. 18 at noon in the Durham Research Center Auditorium. Christine Smith, vice president and head of Pfizer Worldwide Research's Biotherapeutics Center of Emphasis, will present "Biotherapeutics and Macromolecules: Additional approaches to address patient needs." An overview of the biotherapeutic field and selected Pfizer examples will be discussed. Smith leads a biotherapeutics group that identifies and optimizes large biomolecules across multiple disease areas for Pfizer Worldwide Research. She was recognized in the 2007 Pharma Voice as one of the 100 Most Inspiring People. She has worked on projects at all stages of pharmaceutical drug development from discovery through clinic and is co-inventor on several patents pertaining to the discovery of novel proteins. Lunch will be served starting at 11:45 a.m. on a first come first serve basis. The seminar is open to all faculty, students and staff.
