Target Audience
Nurses and other health care professionals involved in wound, ostomy, and continence care.
Learning Outcomes
- Discuss effective communication approaches when educating ostomates about ostomy care and sexual considerations to improve quality of life among patients living with an ostomy.
- Apply techniques to managing enterocutaneous fistulas with high output while providing wound care to the surrounding skin affected from caustic effluent.
- Articulate the importance of addressing burnout in the workplace and what self-care strategies can be utilized to overcome stressors impacting job satisfaction, emotional and physical health, and productivity.
- Describe treatment approaches including pharmaceutical options for common continence issues as well as for pain related to wound management when caring for your patients.
