      At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be better able to:
    • Identify key risk factors for hypertension, with a focus on gender-specific contributors.
    • Explore effective management strategies for hypertension, including lifestyle modifications and medical interventions.
    • Discuss the DASH diet and its impact on management of hypertension and heart disease.

    Speaker Bio

    Christina Dunbar Matos, DO, MS, MPH
    Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
    Nebraska Medicine

    Dr. Dunbar Matos is an assistant professor in the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.  Dr. Dunbar provides in-patient and out-patient care for advanced heart failure, VAD, and transplant patients.  She is the unit director for the Cardiac ICU Stepdown Unit, the medical director for the UNMC Cardiac Rehab, and the Heart Failure Quality Improvement Leader.

    Dr. Dunbar Matos completed her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Exercise Physiology, followed by a Master of Public Health, all at the West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.

    Dr. Dunbar Matos completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia.  She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine and her Fellowship in Cardiology at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

    Dr. Dunbar Matos is board certified in Cardiology, and Advanced Heart Failure.
