EHS collects alkaline battery containers Monday thru Friday. After submission of your pick-up request, please allow 5 to 7 working days, not including weekends, for EHS to pick up your container(s). Please note: It is prohibited to recycle your batteries from home or personal use at UNMC/Nebraska Medicine.

Alkaline batteries are the typical non-rechargeable batteries that most people use. They are not EPA regulated and although it is legal to throw them in the garbage, they can be recycled through the UNMC/Nebraska Medicine Alkaline Battery Recycling Program.
