Dr. Miller received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS; and her master's and doctoral degrees in nursing from UNMC, Omaha, NE. She has extensive experience in adult critical care, having cared for patients in coronary, surgical, and medical intensive care units. She has also served as educational coordinator for critical care staff.


Dr. Miller has taught at all levels of undergraduate nursing education and has worked with both traditional and accelerated BSN students. Her most recent instruction has been in NRSG 422 – Patient Centered Care IV, NRSG 419 Transition to Professional Nursing and NRSG 413A – Population Centered Care Clinical. She also teaches NRSG 692—Teaching and Learning Strategies. As Director of the LRC, Dr. Miller was involved in simulation and developing learner-centered teaching strategies for clinical practice, including e-learning modules. Dr. Miller is actively involved in the Interprofessional Education Committee efforts at UNMC and serves on the UNMC Teaching Academy Advisory Council.


Dr. Miller's research area of interest is learning outcomes of simulation, including interprofessional simulation, integrating quality and safety concepts into nursing education, and learning outcomes of learner-centered teaching strategies for clinical practice.
