Dr. Waltman has a master’s degree in nursing, a doctoral degree in educational administration and instruction, and is a certified adult nurse practitioner.
Dr Waltman has taught courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Currently, she is teaching courses for Advanced Practice Nursing Assessment and Clinical Medicine for Advanced Practice Nurses.
Dr Waltman’s research has focused on cancer nursing and on osteoporosis. Funding sources have included the Oncology Nursing Society and the National Institute of Health.

Dr Waltman’s clinical background includes practice in medical/surgical, oncology, and psychiatric nursing. She has practiced as an advanced practice nurse in women’s health and in ambulatory care. She is currently practicing eight hours per week as a nurse practitioner in an occupational health / ambulatory care setting.
Dr Waltman is a tenured graduate faculty member. In 2006, she received the Pennie Z. Davis Faculty Research Award. Volunteers in Lincoln, NE as a provider at Clinic With a Heart (CWAH) – a free medical clinic for patients who have no health insurance. As of September 30, 2014, has volunteered 31.75 hours at CWAH.

2014, Chosen as a delegate from Nebraska to the American Nurse’s Association.
2013, Received the Nebraska Nurse’s Association Outstanding Nurse Educator award.
2014, Received the UNMC College of Nursing Distinguished Alumnae award
