Quiz

Ask the patient about exercise, including type, duration of each period of exercise, and frequency (number of times per week). At least 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week is recommended.

If the patient is not exercising but is interested in starting a program, tell the patient that the attending physician will discuss that with them. The reason for saying this is that patients require risk assessment for cardiovascular disease (possibly including cardiac stress testing), hypertension, evidence of retinopathy or neuropathy, or any lower extremity pathology.
