The Nebraska AIDS Project is a statewide organization dedicated to preventing the spread of AIDS and providing support and medical services to those affected with HIV and AIDS.

From 5:30-7 pm at the RESPECT Clinic on second and fourth Mondays, NAP offers a rapid HIV antibody test to any patient free of charge upon request.  The fingerstick test results are available in 20 minutes.

As a student volunteer, you should encourage RESPECT patients to utilize the NAP services during clinic hours.

RESPECT clinic does offer a HIV test but it requires a venipuncture sample and the patient must return the following week for results.  If the patient is getting blood drawn for other tests, he or she has the option of adding the HIV blood test.

Otherwise, it is recommended that the patients utilize the NAP services because their test is more efficient and less time consuming. NAP also offers anonymous testing (as compared to confidential testing at RESPECT), which is important to some patients.
